Francisco Gámiz

Francisco Gamiz is Professor of Electronics at the University of Granada since 2005, and since 2008 Head and Founder of Nanoelectronics and Graphene Research Labs, declared Singular Lab of the University of Granada in May 2017. He received his B.S. degree in PHYSICS in 1991, and his PhD degree in 1994 from the University of Granada, both with Honors (Best Student Award). In 1999 he was Visiting Researcher at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center (USA). He has also developed several research visits at MINATEC in Grenoble(France) and TU-Wien (Austria). He has participated in 8 European projects, coordinating three of them: FP6- EUROSOI, FP7-EUROSOI+, and currently H2020-REMINDER projects. He has also participated in FP6-SINANO and FP7- NANOSIL Networks of Excellence, and currently in H2020-ECSEL-WAYTOGO-FAST and H2020_NEREID. He has also participated in European Industrial projects such as REACHING-22 and PLACE2BE projects, awarded with Catrene Label, and led by STMicroelectronics and CEA-LETI.

Since 1991 he has been working on the study of the transport properties in semiconductor heterostructures, and their applications. His current research interests include the study of silicon-on-insulator devices, quantum transport and memory effects, graphene and pseudoMOS based sensors, and TMDs and van der Waals heterostructures for More Moore and More than Moore applications, including biomedical devices, and low-power applications. He has co-authored more than 300 refereed papers in major journals and international conference proceedings, several book chapters, and he is co-holder of several international patents related to multi-body 1T-DRAM. His publications have received more than 4200 cites (h-index=34).

Prof. Gamiz has given more than 20 invited conferences about Nanoelectronics, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Tokyo Institute of Technology (TiTech), Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and MINATEC-Grenoble. Prof. Gamiz has been evaluator/expert of the Spanish Agency for Research, and major European research funding agencies, including European Science Foundation, Dutch Technology Foundation, and Swiss National Science Foundation, and also the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore. He has also a member of PhD Jurys in France, U.K., Austria and Switzerland. Since 2007 Prof. Gamiz has managed international, national and regional projects with a total funding above 5M€. Using this funding, Prof. Gamiz has led the setup of the Laboratory of Nanoelectronics and Graphene. He has supervised 12 PhD students, and currently is supervising 3 more.

Prof.Gamiz is Senior Member of the Electron Device Society of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers of USA. He is a member of different Steering Committees of International Conferences such as European Solid-State Device Research Conference (ESSDERC), European Silicon-on-Insulator Technology Workshop, SOI Symposium of the Electrochemical Society (USA) and VLSI-TSA Conference in Taiwan. He is President of the Steering Committee of EUROSOI-ULIS Joint International Conference. In 2010 he was the Chairman of ESSDERC conference organized in Seville.

He has been a recipient of the following Prizes and Awards: i) Best Student in Physics, 1991. The University of Granada. ii) Second National Prize for Physics Students, 1991. Spanish Ministry of High Education and Universities. iii)Best Engineering Student in Andalucia, 1991. Fundación Sevillana de Electricidad.
